There were celebrations a plenty at Helston Community College this morning as students picked up their much anticipated GCSE results.
According to The Packet, the college says that this year's results were "broadly in line" with expected targets, which were set at a high level as usual. Over 78% of students gained at least five A* to C grades, while over 64% had English and maths among these grades.
The college's maths results were particularly impressive with 74% of students gaining an A to C grade and 9% achieving an A* in the subject.
Dr McGovern, head teacher of the college, is quoted on The Packet website as saying: "I am delighted with another set of excellent results, which are a tribute to the efforts and expertise of the staff, and I am also delighted that so many individual students gained such stunning results."
Among the students who achieved notably high grades were Emma Winder with nine A* grades and one A, Richard Ferris with eight A*s and one A and Anna Williams with eight A*.
