Have you heard of Hellysardh yet? If not it's the name of the first ever Helston and The Lizard Street Festival being held on Saturday 10th September 2011. It's also Cornish for Helston and The Lizard.

According to the organisers, the one day festival is going to be "a true celebration of local talent in all its myriad of forms, including live music, dance, drama, poetry, food & drink, arts & crafts and much more."

They go on to say: "What better way to spend a day at the end of the Summer......relax and soak in the atmosphere of live musical performances to suit all ages, a mad hatter's tea party, street stalls, good food & drink...! All events and performances throughout the day will showcase the very best in local creative talent......there will be something for all ages to enjoy, and a great day out!"

Events are being planned to take place at Grylls Monument, in the Sunken Garden, at the Bowling Green, in the Guildhall and in the Epworth Hall. Performances are also going to be taking place outside shops and on the street. So far acts include the Pentyr Singers, Ocean Academy of Dance, Parc Eglos Storytelling and a Mad Hatters Tea Party. It sounds like it's going to be a fantastic day and it's hoped the festival will be the start of many more to come.
