Cornish disaster relief charity, ShelterBox, is once again inviting the public to attend a free Open Day at the organisation's Helston headquarters. The Winter Open Day on Saturday 18th February is a chance for supporters to find out about ShelterBox disaster relief work around the world and see behind the scenes of an international charity.

If you head down to the Water-Ma-Trout base you'll be able to find out about all the items that go into a ShelterBox, how it gets packed and how it gets delivered to those in need. You'll also learn about the Young ShelterBox school project, how ShelterBox track weather related disasters with the Met Office, speak to ShelterBox Response Team (SRT) volunteers about their experiences delivering aid in the field and find out how you too can get involved.
During the day there will be demonstrations and lectures from ShelterBox experts including: 'ShelterBox & How It All Began' with Founder & CEO Tom Henderson, 'Reflections from Japan and Haiti' with Response Team member Tom Lay and 'Behind the Scenes: Operations and Logistics' with Operations Manager Alf Evans.
A handpicked selection of photojournalist and ShelterBox Field Operations specialist, Mark Pearson's 'Behind the Headlines' photography will also be on display. The photographs were shot during deployments in Haiti, Pakistan and Japan and have already been exhibited at the Leeds Corn Exchange and the National Geographic Store in London.
The Winter Open Day is free to attend and doors open from 10am until 3pm on 18th February.
You'll find ShelterBox at Unit 1A Water-ma-Trout, Helston, TR13 0LW.
Free parking is available on site.
