Helston-based, international disaster relief charity, ShelterBox, are opening their doors to the general public on 20th August 2011, giving people the chance to see behind the scenes of its warehouse headquarters.
The Summer Open Day is a great chance for supporters to find out about ShelterBox disaster relief work around the world. Visitors will be able to find out about all the items that go into a ShelterBox, how it gets packed and how it gets delivered to those in need. You can also learn about the Young ShelterBox school project, how ShelterBox track weather related disasters with the Met Office and speak to ShelterBox Response Team volunteers about their experiences delivering aid in the field.
ShelterBox Fundraising Officer & Event Coordinator, Laura Jepson, says: "The Summer Open Day is a great opportunity for us to say thank you to our supporters and show them how their valuable donations are making a real difference to families affected by disasters around the world. It's also a chance for us to engage new supporters who want to know more about what we do and how they can get involved."
The Summer Open Day is free to attend and doors open from 10am until 3pm. The address is ShelterBox, Unit 1A Water-ma-Trout, Helston, TR13 0LW and parking is available on site.
