New Video Filmed for Helston Portas Pilot Application

A new video to support Helston's Portas Pilot application has been filmed this week. We lost out in the first round last month, but Helston still has a chance of becoming a pilot when fifteen more towns are selected in July.
Having entered the first stage of the competition, Helston's application is automatically submitted to the second round. Alterations can be made to the bid though by the end of June and, while the written part of the application is staying the same, a different video has been made to support it.
Helston's first video saw a number of people taking part in Towneoke, singing along to Keep On Movin' by boy band Five. It was the most viewed Portas Pilot video on YouTube, with almost 12,000 hits to date, and attracted attention from both the national press and Mary Portas herself. This time the video takes on a different format with Town Manager Jonathan Birkett and Andy Perry, owner of Andy's Barbers and Chair of the new Helston Town Team, talking about the main points of the application which includes setting up new markets and establishing a business academy.
Mr Birkett explains why the second film has been made: "The feedback we received last time was sound; our application was very strong, the video was great and it achieved many of our goals. The only constructive feedback we got is that we didn't appear to support our application with the video. That wasn't our intention though, we wanted to show why we deserved the money and what our town's about. We've been in two minds whether to alter it but we decided that we'd take the opportunity and this time it's going to be a little more informative but there'll still be a Helston twist to it."
The video was filmed on Monday with the same editor and camera team as last time and is due to be submitted by the end of the week.

Comments
The first film is brilliant! The second is good, reminds me of Peep Show, but it's a bit long - and the reveal at the end kind of got lost. That said, good on Helston for trying something different. Twice.
