U-Turn Sees Helston Mayor Elected for a Second Term

John Boase will be mayor for a second year. There was public outcry when it emerged he had been voted out for the coming year by his fellow councillors at a private meeting last month. Last week the vote was taken again in public and this time Mr Boase won.
Voting in favour of John Boase were Vicky Matthew, Ronnie Williams, Mike Thomas, Wendy Radford-Gaby and Jonathan Radford-Gaby. Voting against were Richard Pryor, Sue Swift, Niall Devenish, Keith Reynolds and David Swift. As the vote was tied Deputy Mayor Vicky Matthew was given the casting vote and she chose to stick with her original choice of Mr Boase.
At the same meeting Jonathan Radford-Gaby was voted in as Deputy Mayor. Both he and John Boase will be officially sworn into the roles at the Mayor Choosing ceremony in May.

The two Radford-Gaby's that voted against him now support him, and guess what. Jonathan Radford-Gaby becomes deputy mayor with Bose support.
And only on the casting vote of the current deputy mayor.
Radford-Gaby's change their mind to get elected. You will never get my vote again, and I think you have lost a lot of votes. Helston people might not agree with decisions taken, but at least they respect people who have made up their mind and stick to it. Not this shabby deal

ReportWhat an odd story this whole this has turned out to be. The whole thing seems rather unnecessary. Still, at least Helston has a mayor again.
