One of Helstonpeople's twitter followers has suggested a Helston Christmas and craft market. I think it's a great idea. Perhaps we've missed the boat for this year? What with lengthy applications for road closures and the need to fins people to exhibit at the event it may be a hard push for Helston to pull off so soon to Christmas. Are you a local trader in the town? What do you think? Will it work or will it suffer the lack of support that, sadly, the Harvest Fair did this year?

I would like to think that with all the local talent we have in Helston that a Christmas and Craft Market would work. Would it be necessary to close the road to have a market in Coinagehall Street/ Coinage Ope/Epworth Hall and the Guildhall or as there are shops closing down why not use the units to have temporary Christmas shops for a small fee to the landlords. I am sorry to see so many shops closing and I worry for the future of J J News as the town becomes emptier, less people will feel it is worth coming into Helston for the few of us that are left. The more special events that take place the more people come to town. Soon what shops that are left will be the Independents or small family run shops. Help keep these shops going by showing your support, use them or lose them and your town.
