With this mornings resignation of mrs mathews from the town council and the shock announcement of the forthcoming vote of no confidence in mayor john boase are we not all a bit fed up with the in fighting of our town council.
I think it is the public who actually have no confidence in our town council. Would not a mass resignation and election of a new town council be the best option, we have not had one for nearly five years.
Also why does the mayor need to come from the council i can see no reason for this as the appointment of the post seems to tear the council apart

It is a shock that such a good Christian Liberal Democrat Councillor resigns, but what Mrs Matthew has shown that she is an honorable person of integrity.

She clearly fully accepts that she was wrong is voting on the Town Twinning Association, and as such as acted in exactly the correct way where ratepayers money is involved.

What totally surprises me is that there is absolutely nothing from the Liberal democrat Mayor or Mayoress, as they did exactly the same as Mrs Matthew. Surely as Leader of the Council The Mayor and Mayoress should have been the first ones to acknowledge and recognise they are in the wrong, and have immediately apologise and corrected the error, rather than relying on a fellow Councillor to fall on their sword first.

The announcement of a vote of no confidence is hardly a shock, nor should it be.

It is about time this Council took action over this Mayor, and clearly a number of them have decided "enough is enough".

This vote of no confidence has the support of practically everyone you speak to in Town over this disgraceful voting pattern with ratepayers money.

I do hope The Mayor acts in a professional and honorable way and realises he has lost the support of his Council, and resigns before it comes to a vote., or he loses any more Councillors of integrity and honour who cannot continue to serve under such a person as this.

I actually attended two of the public consultations that were held regarding Meneage Green as I live alongside it, and I met Vicki Mathew at both.

She was extremely polite. listened to my views and recorded them all, and was in my view a great public servant.

The resulting outcome was exactly what the residents wanted, and I cannot praise her hard work enough. The result is absolutely fantastic.

With all this uproar over this Mayor yet again, the only comment I can make is that during all the consultation and work on Meneage Green, he was absolutely nowhere to be seen, and as far as I know he had absolutely no interest or indeed input on the way this work was carried out. The result is that the work was carried out as promised, on time and to the residents total satisfaction. (And I speak for a number).

The message I have gained from this is that his non involvement was a positive thing for the town, because he could not mess it up.

Isn't it about time some of his fellow Councillors explained that its more important what you actually achieve rahter than strutting around with a gold chain and funny hat. Some of those on the Council keep an extremely low profile, do not seek any personal recognition and just get on with what is best for our beautiful Town, such as the Meneage Green work.

They are the true servants of the people.
