This year has been an eventful one for the Mayor of Helston. Cllr John Boase has been accused of losing the support of his own council after they held a secret ballot to oust him from his post at the beginning of the year and now more unrest has been highlighted within the council following an email from former Mayor Niall Devenish questioning Cllr Boase's conduct in a recent meeting which saw the Twinning Association, of which he is a member, benefit from free use of the Guildhall.

The Council itself has had a turbulent year after a huge number of residents questioned the need of the expensive town manager, for him to then resign.

Helston Town Council is, or should be, our first port of call for the town. Its councillors, ultimately, can help make the changes you wish to see in the place in which you live. But are they performing the way you want them to?

It seems the Mayor is being questioned because he allegedly has lost the support of some of his council, but my question is: has the council lost the support of the town - which is surely more important?

What do you think? Tell us your views!

jennafirth, you are correct again. The Council has lost the support of the town, because they have slavishly agreed with what this clot of a Mayor has done.

As ratepayers we cannot do anything about getting rid of the Council till next election, but the Councillors can do something about getting rid of the fool that leads them.

And if any of them ever want to get re-elected again, they need to get rid of him right now.

How much has this fool cost the Town ??

I hope for the sanity of Helston he has nothing to do with selecting the next Town Centre manager.

Do you know if he will, or can you find out jennafirth.

I think as ratepayers we have the right to know.

    Message to jennafirth.

You certainly seem to have your ear to the ground over local news in Helston, and also as this Mayor seems to answer your question, can you ask him a direct question

"WILL HE NOW RESIGN AS HE HAS LOST THE SUPPORT OF THE MAJORITY OF THE PEOPLE OF HELSTON BECAUSE OF HIS STUPIDITY"

The people of Helston would thank you for ever.

This internecine fighting is doing the Town Council no good at all.

This Mayor is a good god-fearing man who must be given the respect the office deserves.

He had absolutely no control on what a prominent members of the public said in the local paper about the Town Council possibly not owning the Community Centre.

He is a well know and prominent member of the local twinning association, and does all he can to support it and was absolutely correct in making sure they did not pay for hire of a meeting room. If they had to pay for hire, then that cost would fall upon all the members of twinning, and where would they find the money from.

That is what council money is for, to support worthy and good groups such as this.
