"Microsoft Sans Serif"">Lizard-based painter and printmaker Chris Billington is
returning to Falmouth to showcase his latest work - Falmouth Working Boats.
Timed to coincide with Falmouth Week, Chris will be
exhibiting 20 new pieces at The Steele Gallery at The Poly.
Chris created the paintings, which will be on show from
Monday, August 9 until Monday, August 16, to mark one of the most important and
spectacular sailing events in the racing calendar.
“I started planning and working on this exhibition a
year ago,” said Chris.
“I wanted to create work that celebrates the colourful
spectacle of the famed Falmouth Working Boats.
“For me it’s great that people will have the chance to
see my interpretations at The Poly while at the same time see the boats in
action on the water.”
The work was started in Chris’ Falmouth studio and
completed in his new studio on the Lizard following his recent move.
He added: “With an emphasis on the geometry of their
bright and distinctive sails I feel that my work is an exciting tribute to
these magnificent boats and I’m looking forward to unveiling them to the
public.”
