There are now just days to go until this year’s Helston Flora Day on Saturday 7th May. Dancers are sorting the final touches to their outfits, the schools are practicing their steps for the final time and the hunt for lily of the valley is stepping up a gear.

Yesterday Helston Town Band held their practice giving the town a taste of that familiar tune that’ll be ringing in our ears throughout Saturday. As in previous years they walked through the town at 7am and again at 7pm. A crowd of people turned out to watch them while a number of spectators, young and old, danced behind them to perfect their moves.

The flags are up and the fair is starting to arrive so all we need now is the good weather. The Met Office is predicting sunshine and showers for Saturday but with any luck those showers will hold off at least until the dancing is over.
