Helston School A-Level Results Up on Last Year - But Are They Getting Easier?!

There are many happy students and parents in Helston this weekend following Thursday’s A-level results. Helston School has once again achieved an excellent set of grades with passes up on last year.
There’s something rather special about A-level results day. I’m not sure why but each year when I see the students nervously waiting to open their envelopes, then finally learning their fate, I’m hit with a wave of nostalgia. I’m suddenly transported back to the day I got my results and how it felt knowing the hard work had paid off and I was off to uni, but also feeling sad that school was finally over, it was the end of an era.
What I don’t remember is being surrounded by reports that A-levels were getting easier, that effectively any effort that had been put in to getting good grades was pretty much null and void due to the fact a monkey could apparently now get a pass doing the work with his eyes closed.
I have no idea whether they are getting easier or not. Yes, results are getting better year on year but should that not be celebrated? Even if they are getting easier, it’s not the students’ fault so if they’ve done well let’s not rain on their parade and if they haven’t, perhaps we should try not to rub it in.
Do you think the a-level results bashing each year should stop, or do you in fact think they are getting easier? Have you just got your results? Let us know your thoughts.

I suppose once everyone gets an A star we can say they are too easy. Maybe until then we should just ne happy for students that pass.
