Helston Triathlon Open for Entries

Helston Sports Centre is inviting those who are serious about their fitness to get into training and prepare to take part in this year’s challenging triathlon. The event will take place on 5th June 2011 and participants will have to complete a 400 metre swim in the pool, followed by a 16.5 mile bike ride, topped off with a 3.5 mile run.

Community Leisure Officer Ceri Harvey says: “This is the 7th Helston Triathlon and it is growing in popularity with over 250 finishers last year. Triathlon is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK and is in the Olympic programme for 2012 so we are hoping for a lot of interest. The event is suitable for novices and there are options for relay teams too.”

She adds: ” For those who want to be involved in this community event but for whatever reason can’t enter as competitors, we are looking for marshals to help out on the day all along the route.”

The closing date for entries is 20th May and there is an entry limit of 300 competitors.
