Helston and the Lizard Transport Network to be Discussed

The transport network in Helston and the surrounding areas is in the spotlight this week. The Community Network Panel for Helston and the Lizard is holding its next meeting with transport being the main topic of its question and answer session.
The meeting’s being held at Mawgan Village Hall (ironically somewhere I’m imagining is pretty difficult to get to if your relying on some form of public transport) on Wednesday 14th July at 7pm. The panel consists of the area’s seven Cornwall councillors and will be chaired by Manaccan councillor Pam Lyne. Representatives from Western Greyhound, First Great Western, Community Wheels, Age Concern/Dial a Ride, and the Cornwall Council Rural Transport team will also be on hand to answer questions.
It’s likely that topics will include the frequency of services, the cost and any subsidies. From my own experience I know that some of the local bus services, particularly in Helston and Porthleven can be quite reliable. But it’s when you try to get out to the more rural locations on the Lizard that problems arise, especially as services times seem to be so limited.
Do you have any gripes with our local transport network? Do you use it? And if you don’t, why is that, what would you like to see change?

I agree irgmcdonald although i will admit i dont use public transport much as i can walk to most places i want to go. But my son and daughter have had no end of problems trying to get to work in Truro from Helston and getting buses back from Edgecombe, it got so bad i got hold of our local Mp who then found out that most bus stops are in fact "Request stops" so unless you make it clear (by raising of hand etc) a bus driver is quite within his rights to drive on by, what is it like these days! In my time you stood next to the bus stop sign to signify you want the bus to stop hey ho

ReportI live just outside Helston and frankly, getting anywhere using public transport is a nightmare! If you are lucky enough to get to the place you want to go, you probably won't be able to get back as buses run so infrequently.
